Notifications and alerts

Configure what SimplyRank emails you and what gets pushed to Slack in Settings → Notifications.

Email notifications

Most teams get value from a small set of emails:

NotificationWhat it sendsRecommended setting
Scan completedSummary of every completed scanOff — too frequent. Use weekly digest instead.
Weekly digestOnce-a-week roll-up of visibility, position, sentiment, top moversOn
Visibility drop alertEmail when overall visibility drops more than X% in one scanOn, threshold 5–10%
New competitor detectedEmail when AI mentions an unfamiliar brand alongside yours frequentlyOn
Recommendation refreshNotification when new recommendations are generatedOptional — once you've worked through the top ones
Plan / billing updatesRenewal reminders, plan changes, billing issuesOn (recommended for owner/admin)

Each team member configures their own. The workspace owner doesn't see other members' settings.

Slack alerts (Pro and above)

Push scan summaries and alerts to a Slack channel:

  1. Settings → Notifications → Slack.
  2. Click Connect Slack.
  3. Authorize the SimplyRank Slack app.
  4. Pick the channel to send to (typically #marketing or #ai-visibility).
  5. Choose which alerts to send.

Common Slack alerts to enable:

  • Weekly summary post (good for kicking off a Monday standup).
  • Visibility drop alerts.
  • New competitor detection.
  • Critical scan failures (rare but useful so you don't miss them).

You can connect Slack alerts to multiple channels — e.g. competitor alerts to #competitive-intel, weekly summaries to #marketing.

What goes in a weekly digest

A typical weekly digest email includes:

  • Your overall visibility score this week vs. last week.
  • Top 3 movers (prompts where you climbed or dropped).
  • Top 3 competitor changes.
  • Top 3 new recommendations.
  • A link to the dashboard for full detail.

It's designed to read in 60 seconds before you decide whether to dig in.

What goes in a Slack alert

Slack alerts are short:

📉 SimplyRank: Visibility dropped 8% this scan (now 64%). Drop is concentrated in Cosmetic surgery category. [View dashboard]

Notification frequency tips

A few patterns that work:

For solo founders / small teams: Weekly digest only. Skip per-scan summaries. Add Slack alerts for major drops.

For marketing departments: Weekly digest + Slack channel for the team + monthly executive summary (manually generated as a PDF).

For agencies: Per-client Slack channels with weekly summaries; PDF reports for client delivery.

Resist enabling everything. Notification fatigue defeats the purpose.

Notification limits

There's no hard limit on email or Slack notifications, but we won't send more than one of each notification type per scan. If you get a daily scan and have weekly digest enabled, the weekly digest still sends once a week (covering all 7 scans), not 7 times.
