Deleting your account
You can delete your SimplyRank account at any time. Here's how it works.
Two paths
There are two different things you might mean by "delete":
Path 1: Cancel your subscription
You stop paying, but your account stays accessible read-only for 30 days. Your data is preserved during that grace period in case you change your mind.
This is the right path if you're stopping for now but might come back.
See Changing your plan — cancelling.
Path 2: Permanently delete your account
You stop paying and your data is removed. You can't reactivate — you'd have to start fresh.
This is the right path if you want a clean exit.
How to permanently delete
- Cancel your subscription first (if you have one) in Settings → Billing.
- Email [email protected] from your account email.
- State that you want your account permanently deleted.
- We confirm via reply, then process deletion within 30 days.
We require deletion via email (rather than a self-serve button) for two reasons: it gives a moment to confirm intent, and it lets us ask any clarifying questions about specific data deletion if you have them.
What gets deleted
When we permanently delete an account:
- ✅ Your profile (name, email, account record).
- ✅ Your workspace, all team members, all settings.
- ✅ All brands, prompts, competitors, categories.
- ✅ All scan history and scan results.
- ✅ All citations, recommendations, exports.
What we keep (and why)
A few things we may retain after deletion:
- Billing records: Required by accounting and tax law. Retained for 7 years. Includes invoice records but not personal contact info beyond what's required.
- Anonymous aggregate analytics: Things like "how many trials converted in Q2" — anonymized so they're no longer linked to you.
- Required-by-law records: Where we're under a legal obligation to retain (rare).
We delete or anonymize everything we're not legally required to keep.
How long deletion takes
We complete deletion within 30 days of confirming your request. In practice it's usually faster (within a few business days). The full 30-day window exists because some deletions cascade across systems (database, backups, third-party providers) that have their own propagation timelines.
If you change your mind
During the 30-day grace period after cancellation (Path 1): just pick a paid plan again. Your data is restored.
After permanent deletion (Path 2): your old data is gone and unrecoverable. You'd start a fresh trial like a new user.
What about my team members?
When you delete the workspace, all team members lose access immediately. Their personal accounts (if they used SimplyRank in other workspaces) are unaffected.
What about my agency clients (Agency plans)?
Deleting an agency workspace deletes all client workspaces inside it. If you want to hand a client off to manage SimplyRank themselves, contact us first — we can sometimes split out a client workspace into its own standalone account.
