How billing works
SimplyRank uses Stripe to handle payments. The model is straightforward: subscribe to a plan, pay monthly or yearly, get charged automatically on renewal.
Who you pay and how
- Payment processor: Stripe.
- Accepted methods: most major credit and debit cards. SEPA Direct Debit and other regional methods may be available depending on your country.
- Currency: USD. (Multi-currency is on the roadmap.)
- Where to manage payment methods: Settings → Billing.
You'll never enter card details on a SimplyRank screen — the card form is hosted by Stripe directly. We don't see or store your card number.
The billing cycle
Your billing cycle starts the day you first subscribe to a paid plan and renews automatically each period:
- Monthly plans: charged every month on the same day (e.g. signed up on the 12th → charged on the 12th of each month).
- Yearly plans: charged once a year on the anniversary date.
You'll get an email a few days before each renewal as a reminder.
What's on each invoice
Every invoice includes:
- Your plan name (Starter Lite / Starter / Pro / Advanced).
- Billing interval (monthly / yearly).
- The amount charged.
- Any pro-rations from mid-cycle plan changes.
- The billing period covered (e.g. May 1 – May 31, 2026).
- Your company name and address (set in Settings → Billing).
You can download invoices any time from Settings → Billing → Invoices.
Pro-rations
When you upgrade mid-cycle, we charge a pro-rated amount for the difference. When you downgrade, the new rate applies at next renewal — no partial refund. See Changing your plan for examples.
Taxes
We charge sales tax / VAT where applicable based on your billing address. The amount and breakdown appear on each invoice.
If you're in the EU/UK and have a VAT number, add it in Settings → Billing. Once verified, future invoices reverse-charge VAT (i.e. zero VAT charged) per the standard EU B2B rules.
What happens if a payment fails
If your card declines on renewal day:
- We retry automatically over the next several days. Stripe handles smart retry timing.
- You'll get an email asking you to update your payment method.
- Your subscription status moves to
past_due— service continues normally during the retry window. - If retries fail after the grace period, your subscription moves to
unpaidand scheduled scans pause. You can still log in and see your data, but new scans don't run. - Update your payment method at Settings → Billing at any point to resume normal service. We'll re-bill the unpaid invoice automatically.
If you anticipate a payment failure (e.g. card expiring), update the method ahead of time to avoid the friction.

Common questions

Can I be billed in EUR or GBP? Not at the moment. We bill in USD. Multi-currency support is on the roadmap.
Can I get a discount? We don't run promotional discounts. The pricing is straightforward and the same for everyone.
What if I'm charged twice? Email [email protected] immediately. Duplicate charges are always refunded — see Refund policy.
Can I see my upcoming invoice? Settings → Billing shows your next billing date and amount, including any pro-rations from recent plan changes.
