Your first week with SimplyRank
Here's a sensible plan for the first seven days. Follow it and you'll have a working AI visibility baseline, a list of competitive gaps, and at least one improvement underway.
Day 1 — Get a baseline
Goal: see where you stand right now.
- Sign up and complete the 5-step onboarding.
- Wait for your first scan to finish (usually a few minutes).
- Open the Dashboard and note three numbers:
- Your overall visibility score (what % of prompts mention you).
- Your average position when you do appear.
- Your sentiment breakdown.
- Open Brands and see which competitors AI mentions most.
Don't try to fix anything yet. The goal today is just to see the truth.
Day 2 — Sharpen your prompts
Goal: make sure SimplyRank is asking the right questions.
The default prompts are auto-generated from your industry. They're a reasonable start, but they're rarely perfect.
- Open Prompts.
- For each prompt, ask: would a real customer of mine actually ask this?
- Replace any that feel too generic with prompts that match how your customers think:
- Bad: "What's the best CRM?"
- Better: "What's a good CRM for a 5-person marketing agency under $50/user?"
- Add commercial-intent prompts — questions someone asks when they're close to buying ("Should I use X or Y?", "What's an alternative to X?").
See How prompts work for what makes a good prompt.
Day 3 — Audit your competitors
Goal: track the competitors that actually show up beside you.
The competitors you added in onboarding may not be the ones AI mentions most. Look at your scan results and adjust:
- In Brands, scan the list of other brands that show up alongside yours. Some you might not have heard of.
- Add the unexpected ones as competitors — they're real rivals in AI's view, even if not in yours.
- Drop any competitors AI never mentions — they're not relevant in this channel.
Day 4 — Open Gap Analysis
Goal: find the prompts where competitors win and you don't.
Gap Analysis (Pro+ plans) shows the prompts where competitors appear but you don't. These are your highest-leverage opportunities.
- Open Gap Analysis (or, on Starter Lite/Starter, sort the prompts table by visibility ascending).
- Pick the top 3 prompts where you're absent but a competitor is present.
- For each, ask: what content or signals does the competitor have that I don't?
Day 5 — Read the Citations page
Goal: understand which sources are influencing AI answers.
AI models cite external sources (G2, Trustpilot, Reddit, Wikipedia, news sites). Those citations shape who AI recommends.
- Open Citations (Pro+ plans).
- Look at which domains are cited most often when your competitors are mentioned.
- Note any obvious gaps — "AI cites G2 reviews of my competitor 30 times. I have 3 G2 reviews."
Day 6 — Pick one thing to fix
Goal: turn data into one concrete action.
After five days of looking at data, pick one improvement:
- Update a comparison page on your site to better match a high-volume prompt.
- Pitch a third-party publication for a citation.
- Refresh your G2/Trustpilot listing.
- Publish a blog post answering a prompt where you're absent.
See The visibility playbook for tactics that work.
Day 7 — Decide on a plan
Goal: pick the right paid plan or step away.
Your trial ends on day 7. By now you should have enough information to decide:
- If you saw clear gaps and SimplyRank felt useful — pick a plan. Most teams choose Pro ($175/mo) for the full feature set.
- If you're not sure yet — extend the trial by emailing [email protected]. We can usually give you a few extra days.
- If it's not for you — no charge. Your account stays in trial-expired state and you can come back later.
